Palo Alto Weekly just published an article on El Camino Reelers, with interviews and photos taken at our January 12 potluck. You can read it here: https://www.paloaltoonline.com/ae/2024/03/21/the-reel-deal-meet-the-peninsulas-longtime-lgbtq-suqare-dance-club/

Palo Alto Weekly waited to publish the article to coincide with our Free Open House for new dancers, held on Friday April 5.

Board Election Results

It took a while, but we have final results in the February ECR Board elections. Congratulations to first-time Board members Pete Levins and Rob Howe and returning member Oliver Vogel. Our sincere thanks to Sabra Chartrand who tied(!) with Rob but lost by a flip of a coin.

We recently learned that longtime El Camino Reelers member Pamela Reed passed away from a heart attack in March 2021. An out and proud trans woman, Pamela was a software engineer at IBM and an ECR regular until she retired in 2010 and left the area. She is survived by her two sons.

"So I've been a boy and I've been a girl and, trust me, being a girl is better".

Our thanks to Lyn Juckniess for letting us know of Pamela's passing. An IAGSDC History Wiki page for her is being developed.

February 24: The Black & White (and Pink!) Ball

Pretty in pink! Reelers and friends dressed for the occasion and danced to Bill Eyer at ECR's 2024 winter dance. And yes, Bill played "Pink Cadillac", and called hexagons too.

Real dancing.
Real people.
Real fun.

EL CAMINO REELERS is a modern Western Square Dance club, formed by lesbians and gay men in order to meet people, have fun, and learn to square dance. We dance to live callers using the Callerlab SSD-50, Mainstream, Plus, and Advanced programs.

LEARN TO SQUARE DANCE! It's a great way to meet active, open-minded, intelligent, and sometimes very silly people. We would love to welcome you to our club. Come to one of our no experience required Open House Nights, or send a note to information@reelers.org and let us know you're interested.
